New Mexico Book Association is the statewide non-profit organization serving all book professionals publishers, authors, editors, illustrators, booksellers, librarians, designers, writers, typesetters, printers, service bureaus, literacy advocates, agents, and reviewers. Founded in 1994, NMBA provides services including professional development workshops, our Libro Newsletter, monthly networking luncheons, New Mexico's Book World (the resource guide to the state's book community), a monthly online events calendar, opportunities to show and sell books at major book festivals and trade shows, and more!

HOW TO BECOME A NEW MEXICO BOOK ASSOCIATION MEMBER: Initiation and first year membership is just $50. All who are involved in books, personally or professionally, are invited to join NMBA. Voting members must live in New Mexico, but we also welcome out-of-state members with an interest in the book arts in New Mexico. Yearly RENEWAL dues are $62. You will be asked to renew by the first of September of each year.

Workshops Coming!
• NMBA and SWW to Host Dan Poynter, Penny Sansevieri
Dan Poynter and Penny Sansevieri, nationally celebrated experts in small press publishing and cutting-edge Internet marketing, are coming to Albuquerque in September and October. SouthWest Writers (SWW) has linked up with NMBAs Professional Development Series to jointly stage these two exceptional appearances both outstanding opportunities for authors and publishers to lift their books and presses to their next level of success!
Dan Poynter, author of many editions of The Self-Publishing Manual, presents his seminar on "Guerrilla Marketing for Small Presses and Self-Published Authors" (of which New Mexico has a particular abundance) on Tuesday, September 9. This is an evening seminar from 7 to 9pm. Cost will be just $25 for NMBA and SWW members and $35 for non-members.
Penny C. Sansevieri, the widely acclaimed online book marketer, will offer her all-day "Red Hot Internet Marketing" workshop in Albuquerque from 9am to 4:30pm on Saturday, October 18. We've been looking forward to her dynamic presence for some time! She believes that Internet marketing is now "the best road to a books success," and she'll tell attendees exactly how to navigate it. Admission for NMBA and SWW members is $79, non-members $99, which includes lunch and a copy of Penny's book, Red Hot Internet Publicity. Taking reservations now!
Both Professional Development events will take place at the New Life Presbyterian Church, 5540 Eubank N.E., just a mile north of Montgomery Blvd. in Albuquerque's Northeast Heights.

Our lively NMBA Round Table Happy Hour brings us together again on Thursday, September 25 at Santa Fe Bar and Grill, DeVargas Mall, 5:30pm.
