Disposition of leftover PLA-NMLA Books

To Public Library Association and NM Library Association show participants:

We have a number of unsold books left over from PLA/NMLA, and a few from previous years' shows.  Because we have limited storage space, we need some help from you.  Please tell us what you would like us to do with these books:

1.  Pick up the rest of the copies at our office (1612-C Lena Street).  We will be there in the conference room for our Board meeting for 2 hours following the next NMBA luncheon May 11. (If you live outside the area, we can ship the books back to you for a $5 charge.)

2.  Donate the books to a public or school library, or to some other nonprofit group (e.g., door prizes for an upcoming NM Coalition for Literacy meeting).

3.  Sell the books to a local used bookstore to support NMBA.

Please let me know by email -- This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it -- by May 11 if you would like your books back, or which alternative works for you. THANK YOU.

Paula Lozar, Vice President

Book Design Secrets for Authors and Publishers
6:30-8:30 pm in the Common Room at St. Bede's Church

What makes an eye-catching book cover? How does page design increase a book's appeal? For book professionals who deal primarily with words, these concepts may seem mysterious. In this presentation, two book designers will discuss what is effective book design, what design choices are appropriate for your type of book, how to choose a designer you can work with, and mistakes to avoid. Plentiful examples will be provided.

Janice St. Marie is an experienced book and cover designer with 100 books to her credit. Jaye Oliver is an illustrator and cover designer, and will be one of the judges for the 2012 Southwest Book Design Awards. Publicist and NMBA board member Michael Hice will moderate the discussion. In the Common Room at St. Bede's Church, 1601 South Saint Francis Drive. $20 members, $25 nonmembers.

You can preregister by calling 505 660-6357 or sending an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . You can pay at the event or online using Paypal.
